Music Minute - The Reklaws: Outliving (For Mom)

On what would have been their mom's 60th birthday, Canadian sibling duo The Reklaws are sharing a new collection of songs titled Outliving (For Mom). The three new tracks, available on the same day they launch the 'Flo Walker Stardust Fund' in partnership with Kids Help Phone, serve as a heartfelt tribute to their mother, in addition to a new live version of their viral emotional track “People Don't Talk About.” Tonight, the siblings and the Walker family will make a six-figure donation to kickstart the fund at The Reklaws' YEE HAW Fun-Raiser in Toronto, ON.

"This is by far the most personal music we have ever shared," said Jenna Walker (The Reklaws). “So many people reached out to us with their own stories after hearing 'People Don't Talk About,' which made us realize how many families have had similar experiences, so we wanted to share more of our story with this new music. We're incredibly proud to partner with Kids Help Phone to create the 'Flo Walker Stardust Fund' in honor of our mom because we know it will be a great support to others struggling with mental health.”

“These three new songs really reflect on our journey over the past few years,” shares Stuart Walker (The Reklaws). “We were humbled by the support and donations from everyone throughout this time and are looking forward to honoring all our friends, family, fans and partners tonight at the YEE HAW Fun-Raiser in celebration of our mom because we wouldn't be where we are today without her.”

Since the unexpected loss of their mom in 2022, The Reklaws have been very vocal about the importance of open conversation surrounding mental health and mental health care. Leveraging the funds raised by family, friends and fans following their mother's passing and at the event, the 'Flo Walker Stardust Fund' will see the brother-sister duo support Kids Help Phone (KHP), Canada's only free, 24/7 national, confidential, e-mental health support service for all young people in Canada. KHP is the safe, trusted space to Feel Out Loud over the phone, through text or in self-directed supports for any moment of crisis or need. The funds will support Kids Help Phone's Peer-to-Peer Community, which offers an online space where youth can reach out, encourage each other, and access support from other young people. The Peer-to-Peer Community is a place where youth can connect with others experiencing similar challenges without fear of judgment or worry about the stigma associated with asking for help. Those looking to contribute can do so at https://kidshelpphone.ca/stardustfund.

“I'm deeply touched by the incredible generosity of The Reklaws and the Walker Family in creating the 'Flo Walker Stardust Fund' to support youth mental health across Canada,” said Katherine Hay, President & CEO, Kids Help Phone. “The Reklaws' commitment to keeping the conversation around mental health open and accessible speaks to the heart of what we do every day—providing free, multilingual and confidential support to ensure no young person feels alone. We are incredibly grateful to The Reklaws and their community for empowering youth to Feel Out Loud.”
