Baby Boomer and Gen Z job applicants have different processes when building their resumes, and probably lean towards different fonts.
No matter what age an applicant is, one thing is certain, your bad resume design could cost you a job. That's according to 61% of hiring managers in a new study.
Key Findings:
- Times New Roman, Arial, and Helvetica are the best resume fonts, according to managers overall.
- Gen Z and Millennial manager favorites are Times New Roman and Georgia.
- Gen X and Baby Boomer manager favorites are Arial (for both) and Times New Roman in 2nd place for Gen X, Verdana for Boomers.
- Gen Z & Baby Boomers are most likely to use AI tools to review resumes and Gen Z managers are most open to AI resumes.
- Emojis (71%), cluttered layout (54%), & inconsistent formatting (36%) are the top design choices hiring managers hate.
