Clear and concise communication is expected in the workplace, but it rarely ever gets addressed when it comes to the difficult process of being fired.
Preply, an online language lessons & communication training platform, surveyed over 2,000 employees and managers about how their feelings on the process of firing & what can be improved.
Key Findings:
When firing an employee, 1 in 6 managers says they regretted their language choices.
55% of managers who have fired someone have not received training on how to fire someone.
Of the Americans who have been fired, 65% think the manager handled the situation poorly.
92% of managers think more training on how to fire someone would be beneficial.
Having a better explanation, better empathy and taking responsibility rather than avoiding blame are the top ways employees believe firing could be handled better.
