Music Minute - Re Mattei: What's Wrong with This Picture

Sultry singer-songwriter Re Mattei announced the release of her new single, “What’s Wrong With This Picture” which is a nostalgic dive into 80s pop vibes. Self-penned by Mattei, The song tells a story about someone reminiscing about love lost. Everyone has that picture we look back at from years ago. You know the one…that first love where you thought you found your soul mate, the high school sweetheart, that person that made your heart race but somehow slipped away. There is only the reality that our lives move on and that picture slowly fades, because we’re not in the frame. The new music is available for streaming and download HERE.

Re Mattei reflects, “ This song was inspired by my love for pop music of the 80’s. It’s a Def Leopard meets Shania Twain, wrapped up with weeping pedal steel and a rockin’ solo by the late great Pete Huttlinger. It embraces that 80s vibe mixed with modern country. Get readyto play some air guitar and put on  some parachute pants.”

About Re Mattei
Re Mattei’s music: “A real smooth Pinot Noir, mixed with a little dirt and an ice cube.” Re’s early memories are of stories of her mother playing the violin as a child. Her dad played accordion as a young man and had his own band.
After high school, she studied at Berklee College of Music, receiving a bachelor’s degree in guitar performance. A week before graduation, everything changed. Re recalls, “There was a note in my mailbox to audition for the Uptown Girls, an all-female Top 40 seven-piece band, playing lead guitar and doing some singing. I auditioned for the group and was hired on the spot. We had an agent from Orlando, Florida, and for the next three years I traveled up and down the East Coast, then all over the world.”
After touring with the band, building her experience with countless hours performing in front of live audiences, Re moved to Nashville determined to become a songwriter and a recording artist. In Nashville she met up with songwriter Rick McMahon and they collaborated on the song "Broken Rose," a track that received honorable mention in the Music City Song Festival in two categories (for both music and lyrics). This led to performances at the Bluebird Café, the Opryland Hotel, TV appearance on To Be A Star in Nashville, and the Tennessee State Fair on the WSM-sponsored stage. Her first single, Country Love went to #1 on the Indie Country charts and spent 6 weeks on the Hot Top 40 charts. Re has just finished co-producing her first album, Believin’ Is Seein’ with Producer Bartley Pursley who has worked with noted artists such as Gretchen Wilson, Randy Owen and John Rich. It is due for release Spring of 2024.
