As part of Gibson’s commitment to artist-first culture and music discovery, Gibson is proud to officially announce that alt-rock/pop artist Towa Bird has joined Gibson as the brand’s Marquee Artist.    Gibson’s new Marquee Artist program goes beyond guitars to provide emerging artists with support and services committed to artist career growth. Gibson’s Marquee Artist program follows other artist-first programs and initiatives that the brand has introduced over the past five years, including the Gibson Generation Group (Gibson G3) that supports youth artists, Gibson Gives Scholarship program that provides financial support to students with music career aspirations, and Gibson Records, a record label that works with artists to produce, record, and promote guitar-driven music.      This summer, Alt-rock/pop artist Towa Bird released her debut album American Hero, available everywhere via Interscope Records HERE. American Hero has gone on to receive critical acclaim from Billboard, Vanity Fair, DAZED, among others. After forming her first band at age 14, she cut her teeth playing dive bars and street festivals in Hong Kong, then went on to study at Goldsmiths, University of London. Naming Jimi Hendrix, Joan Jett, and Prince among her longtime inspirations, Towa dropped out of school after two years to pursue her love of music and got her start producing and co-writing for other artists, in addition to posting videos that found her soloing over hip-hop, pop, and R&B songs. As her singular guitar style gained attention across the globe — and earned admiration from the likes of Willow Smith and Tyler, the Creator — Towa began sharing original music and soon after inked her deal with Interscope Records. Since making her major-label debut with “Wild Heart,” she’s joined Reneé Rapp on tour in North America and Europe; graced the covers of NME, High Snobiety, Gay Times, The Face, and more.
