Parents do all that they can to help their children thrive into adulthood. Unfortunately, Gen Z has found the transition between childhood & adulthood to be particularly difficult due to a largely digital & poorly socially connected world.
To find out more about how Americans feel about entering adulthood, Preply surveyed 2,000 people across the country about their preparedness to assume adult responsibilities & become independent.
Key findings:
Young people in Illinois, New Jersey, and Alabama are most prepared for #adulting.
50% of Americans felt unprepared to manage their finances when they became adults.
- Laundry, grocery shopping, and cleaning are the #adulting responsibilities young people are most prepared for.
Military service, marriage, and property ownership are the legal rights young people are least prepared for.
50% of Americans say they had no specific career or education plan when they turned 18.
- On average, Americans aren't ready for parenting until they're 28.
- Only 23% of Gen Zers are ready for marriage.
