House & Home - Family Chore Trends Index

The Gender Equity Policy Institute just found that mothers spend twice as much as fathers on caregiving and housework, and much more time than men overall. This gender imbalance is created when there’s no uniform and fair way to organize chores between all family members.

To compile the Family Chore Trends Index, the family organization experts at S’moresUpan app helping parents right the imbalance of household responsibilities — looked at the chore habits of American users.

FAMILIES USE QUIRKINESS TO MOTIVATE KIDS

Some families add fun to chores like “walk slinky up and down steps,” “organize joke of the day,” and things like “Toy Madness Cleanup” and “Crazy Fun Race Organizer” to make cleanup more fun. More quirky chores include “dust antique doll collection” “polish silverware before parties” “organize garage toy race track” and “sweep roof,”
