Book Nook - A Few of My Favorite Things (Cookbook)

Inspired by the pandemic and sequestered at home, children's author Veeda Bybee created a cookbook with her family, each recipe based on a Broadway musical. Recipes emerged like Von Trapp Schnitzel with Noodles from “The Sound of Music”, Violet’s Blueberry Hand Pies from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”, One Last Time Honey Hoe Cakes from “Hamilton” and Fried Wonton Moons from “Mulan" and many more. Section titles include Overture, Opening Number, Act 1, Intermission, Act II, and Finale! Veeda's cookbook, aptly called "A Few of My Favorite Things" launches on January 7, 2025 (Shadow Mountain).

I had a chance to review the book. My daughter and I enjoyed it - especially my daughter, because she loves cooking even more than I do, and also gets obsessed with musicals! She's already tried several of the recipes, and is using the cookbook to plan themed meals. Her only complaint is that it's a little bit of a challenge to make a themed meal out of one musical, since sometimes a musical might be attached to a breakfast recipe and a dinner entree. I think that just gives more variety and fun! Many of the recipes also have tie-ins with more than one musical, which is what she's using to help plan some fun viewing night meals. The photos show off the food well and the recipes are easy to follow - it's a great gift for anyone who loves cooking and musical theater!
