Book Nook - Ora: I Have a Dream

What do a starfish and the power of imagination have in common? In ‘Ora: I Have a Dream’, debut children’s author Evren Ersan weaves a captivating story that takes readers on a magical journey of self-discovery, courage, and resilience. Through Ora’s inspiring quest to transform from a humble sea creature to a brilliant star in the sky, the book encourages children to explore their own aspirations and embrace the beauty of persistence.

Drawing inspiration from her personal battle with cancer, Evren Ersan infuses ‘Ora: I Have a Dream’ with deeply personal themes of hope, ambition, and transformation. The book not only entertains but also teaches children about the importance of pursuing their highest potential despite the odds. With its lush illustrations and empowering narrative, Ora invites readers into a vibrant undersea world where dreams are the key to overcoming challenges.

The story speaks to anyone who has ever dared to dream and reminds readers that the voyage toward their goals is as meaningful as achieving them.

Synopsis:
Ora, a passionate starfish, lives unhappily in the deep blue sea. She has a big dream that keeps her thinking day and night. She wants to be the brightest star in the sky, like Sirius. One day she bravely decides to go in search of her dream. Everyone around her thinks it’s impossible. Can challenges stop her? Can she make it happen? Come and join her adventure to find out.

Remember that a dream is a fire in the heart that not even tons of water can extinguish. I hope this book gives you the faith and courage to follow your dream. If you don’t have one yet, don’t worry. You will discover yours in time.

“Ora: I Have a Dream’ isn’t just a story—it’s my own journey transformed into something children can connect with,” says Evren Ersan.

Continuing, “When I was fighting cancer, I realised how crucial it was to have a dream, even if it felt impossible. Dreams are sparks of light that pull us out of the darkest times. Ora’s story reflects that spark, reminding readers that the path to their ideal future, no matter how challenging, is worth every step. My wish is that children reading Ora will see themselves in her quest, embracing their unique personalities and understanding that every challenge they face is part of their growth. I wrote this book not just to entertain, but to plant a seed of confidence and purpose in every child’s heart.”

About the Author:
Evren Ersan was a child with an enormous imagination and a dream traveller to the most interesting worlds. She loved writing since her childhood years, starting with letters to her mum on special occasions and poems. During her teenage years, she began writing articles, catching the attention of her teacher, but never imagining it would become a dream of hers one day.

It all started with a “what-if” when she had cancer. Then, the what-if began to motivate her. She set out with the desire to leave a good and lasting mark on this world. Like Rumi said, “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” And indeed, it appeared. Now she walks on this journey. Journeys are much more fun when you have company, though. So, join author Evren Ersan on her trip from the deep sea to the sky.
