Fun Freetime - CTC's Milo Imagines the World (Actor Interview)

 I recently had a chance to do an interview with actress Antonisia (Nisi) Collins, who is playing the role of "Adrienne" in the upcoming production of Milo Imagines the World, a new CTC-commissioned musical.

How would you describe your character, Adrienne, in Milo Imagines the World?

• Adrienne is a young teenager who was forced to grow up early due to an unfortunate situation. She struggles with anxiety and pressure from the responsibilities given to her. She is a caring person who isn’t that good at expressing herself. She ultimately wants to be listened to and she wants recognition for all her hard work. 

What have you enjoyed about being part of a CTC production?

• I have enjoyed every step of this process. The cast and creative team have been a dream; to be able to come in, share space, and explore with a lack of judgement has been so refreshing. CTC is a magical place and easily feels like home. 

What are some of the great things about being part of a new musical?

• The best part about being apart of a new musical was having the people who started it all right in the room with us. To be able to have the composer, lyricist, and script writer in the rehearsal space is a rarity in my eyes. It allowed us to be able to make new discoveries and changes in real time. It makes you proud of yourself to be able to allow them to see their vision come to life right in front of their eyes. 

What advice do you have for other people who want to try out theater, whether it's at a school or community level or trying for a bigger stage?

• My advice to anyone who is thinking about trying to pursue theatre is to just go for it! You will be nervous, and feel so vulnerable, but that only means that you care! Bet on yourself and know that you can do it and that you can succeed. How often is it that you get to unlock your inner child and play for a living? Take that leap!
