Website Spotlight - TrueEQ

While traditional social media is often criticized for undermining self esteem, what if there was a social media platform that actually helped people become the best version of themselves?

TrueEQ is a new social media platform rooted in emotional intelligence, which is a skillset that helps people understand and manage their emotions. This platform isn’t about posting pictures of your last meal or items you’re selling. It is a place where users gather to reframe how they think about themselves and their place in the world.

A passion project of creator Brandon Bishop, who holds a masters degree in secondary education, TrueEQ teaches people how to prioritize self-awareness and emotional growth, and to build strong, empathetic relationships. It’s about learning skills that can be valuable in the workplace, our educational system and in high-stress occupations such as healthcare and first responders.

I had a chance to learn more in this interview.

What makes social media so appealing?

Social media’s greatest strength—and its appeal—is its ability to connect us instantly. For parents, caregivers, and anyone navigating life’s complexities, it offers a lifeline: You are not alone. Whether it’s finding camaraderie in the chaos of raising kids, discovering resources during a crisis, or celebrating small wins with others, social media mirrors our innate need for belonging. At TrueEQ, we celebrate this potential—the way a single post can spark solidarity or an honest post can turn isolation into collective strength. Connection is human nature, and platforms that prioritize it will always resonate.

What are some of the challenges with current social media platforms?

Too often, platforms prioritize engagement over empathy. Algorithms amplify outrage, comparison, and perfectionism—all of which erode trust and self-worth. For parents, this might look like scrolling through curated “highlight reels” of parenting and feeling inadequate, or witnessing debates that shame instead of support. At TrueEQ, we see this daily: People crave safe spaces to be their unfiltered selves, but the fear judgment silences them. The cost? Authentic connection gets lost in the noise.

Why was TrueEQ created?

TrueEQ was born from my own journey as a survivor of childhood trauma and a father determined to break cycles of harm. I realized that healing requires being seen and heard without judgment—something traditional social media rarely provides. After years of masking my struggles to fit societal molds, I wanted to create a place that holds space for authenticity. Whether it’s a parent battling burnout, or feeling isolated, TrueEQ gives voice to stories that too often stay hidden. Our mission is simple: Replace shame with empathy, one brave conversation at a time.

What are some ways people can use social media in a positive way?

Social media becomes transformative when we use it intentionally:

  • Share to Heal, Not to Perform: Post your real moments—the messy living room, the quiet wins—to normalize imperfection.

  • Amplify, Don’t Compare: Use your platform to uplift marginalized voices (e.g., single moms, blended families, mental health issues) instead of measuring your life against others’.

  • Create “Safe Spaces”: Join or build groups with clear guidelines for kindness, TrueEQ is paving the way in this area.

  • Log Off to Tune In: Set boundaries. Follow accounts that inspire growth, mute those that drain you, and remember that our words leave imprints, so be kind.

At TrueEQ, we believe social media’s next evolution is empathy-driven design—where technology serves humanity, not the other way around.
