Book Nook - The Complete Loss and Grief Series

Majendi Jarrett’s The Complete Loss and Grief Series shares the complexities of love, healing, and the untold strength that emerges when faced with the unimaginable.

Written by a mother who lived through the profound pain of losing her son Marley, this book offers readers a rare, intimate perspective that will resonate with anyone who has experienced loss, navigated grief, or wrestled with their own emotional battles.

Universally relevant, these narratives also highlight the intricacies of family dynamics, personal pain, and the silent wars fought within one’s own mind. Not shying away from difficult conversations about mental health, social anxiety, and the devastating impact of losing someone to those inner battles, the ripple effects of loss across the entire family are also brought to the fore as the author shares the perspectives of both Marley’s father and brother.

This book will resonate with anyone looking to understand the delicate balance of grief, love, and resilience, and how, even in the most profound loss, this book reminds us of the potential for healing and hope.

Synopsis:

The Complete Loss and Grief Series is a compilation of the three books on loss and grief previously published as individual copies. Each book can be read as a standalone but the trilogy provides the complete picture for the reader.

In Marley's Memoir: The Journey to an Irreversible Action and the Aftermath, Marley’s mum shares the details of his struggles and the challenges he faced as he tried to deal with social anxiety. It also exposes the consequences of the action Marley took which had a life-changing impact on the family.

You will get an insight into the struggles with social anxiety faced by a young person. “Sometimes I wonder how did I end up the way I am? That is, wanting friends but not having any or pushing away people who had tried to befriend me because they were not meeting the expectations in my head of what a friend should be like” (excerpt from chapter 5).

In Living without Marley, the focus is on the ups and downs that the family experiences days and months after losing Marley. Can they cope without their beloved son and brother after such a traumatic loss? What does life look like now that they are a family of three? These and many questions that Marley’s mum addresses in this book.

You will also get an insight into the perspectives of Marley’s dad and brother in the chapters that narrate how they felt on that traumatic day and how they are coping with life afterward.

In He Cares, Marley’s mum shares about the losses and the challenges she faced previously with losing her brother and her own mother, and comments on the differences between those losses and the loss of Marley. She also focuses on how faith has played an important role in the losses she has faced and how she has grown and matured as a person.

The reader will get an insight into the journey Marley’s mum experienced in the years leading up to becoming a mum and later losing Marley.
