I recently had a chance to review The Montessori Way, Revised and Expanded. As an educator who values educational methods that are outside of what is typically seen in a standard public school, there have always been elements of the Montessori approach that I have liked - and have incorporated in my classroom and homeschooling.
The book clearly explains the philosophy behind the Montessori approach - hands-on, child-centered learning that incorporates a lot of freedom throughout the day. It talks about the history and origin of Montessori education, as well as modern-day application. The book also offers tips that are appropriate for either classroom or home, including activities, routines, and materials.
The Montessori approach can be used with any age level, and developmentally-appropriate information is given that supports cognitive, social, and emotional growth. There are also a wealth of real-life examples throughout the book to provide information and tangible ideas.
For everyone enthusiastic about Montessori education, The Montessori Way, Revised and Expanded is a must-have. Full of useful tools and professional knowledge, it enables teachers and caregivers to create a loving atmosphere in which children may flourish. This edition is the ultimate handbook to inspire a lifetime of love of study with revised material and a wider breadth.
