Each year, Americans draft New Year’s resolutions in an attempt to improve various aspects of their lives. Often, creating memories with family and friends, traveling, and making time to “get away” rank high on these lists. If getting away is primary among your wishes and you own a boat, you have likely thought about ultimate adventures and created a boating bucket list.
Hi! I’m Captain Sandy, renowned superyacht captain and star of “Below Deck Mediterranean.” And I, too, want to prioritize travel and creating memories with family and friends this year. With that in mind, I have created a boating bucket list of 10 experiences I hope to tackle. What could they be? Let’s take a look.
Adventure Boating Bucket List
Explore the Galápagos Islands
The Galápagos Islands are high on my boating bucket list and should be on yours. Picture cruising through crystal-clear waters, hopping between volcanic islands, and navigating waters full of marine life. Whether you’re sailing, kayaking, or hopping aboard a small boat for a guided tour, the islands offer an intimate way to explore the stunning landscapes and vibrant wildlife. My hope is to charter a vessel with friends and make it an unforgettable experience.
Pilot a Yacht through the Panama Canal
Yes, please! Piloting a yacht through the Panama Canal would be a unique and thrilling experience. I almost accomplished this one when I took command of a Sea Shepherd vessel that was going to transit the Panama Canal. Unfortunately, the vessel wasn’t ready in time for me to take it over. I had to stay dry docked for another month. I’m hopeful that won’t be my fate this year, though.
