Fronted by Chuck D and Flavor Flav, the band is known for powerful music tackling pressing social issues including racial inequality and government oppression. Anthems like “Fight the Power” and “Harder Than You Think” inspired countless artists around the world.
In conjunction with the tour, Brian Hardgroove launched a new initiative: Musicians Against Gutting America. A longtime collaborator with Chuck D, Hardgroove is also known for his production work and performances with Bootsy Collins, Stewart Copeland, Burning Spear, Fred Schneider and many others. The project was conceived by Hardgroove after a conversation with Congressman Eugene Vindman (who along with his brother Alexander Vindman) displayed extraordinary courage in standing up to Trump for democratic principles. The grassroots campaign aims to counter authoritarian power-grabs and safeguard democracy, freedom and human rights across the United States.
Hardgroove just released a song titled “Do Something” featuring the voices of Eugene Vindman and President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. To download the song for free go to www.
“My life has been spent creating music with a message but now more than ever we need to protect and flex the power of the people to make sure our government knows we will not stand for what is happening under the Trump administration. “Do Something” is for everyone to use, to inspire, to act and support. America must stand strong now,” said Hardgroove.
The goal of Musicians Against Gutting America is to oppose the dismantling of core American values and the organizations commitment to defeating candidates of any party who uncritically endorse the extreme authoritarian agendas of Trump. This is a call to action for voters, organizations, public servants and musicians who believe in a future built on justice and constitutional integrity.
