As a classroom teacher, I was very excited to have the chance to review The Growth Mindset Coach, Second Edition. The book resonated with me, because I already try to teach from a strengths-based and growth mindset context.
I really liked how this book is laid out. It is broken into monthly themes, which means instead of feeling overwhelmed by reading a book full of strategies all at once, teachers can work on one theme at a time. Then, when certain patterns are set, they can move on to the next section.
The book is the perfect combination of information, examples, thought prompts, and practical strategies. It's not just about the teacher having a growth mindset - the book gives classroom strategies to encourage a growth mindset in kids as well. It's targeted towards middle and high school teachers, which is great, because often those are the ages where kids start to shut down in certain subjects and need a little extra help reframing.
The book is relevant to today's classrooms too, with information on SEL and AI, updated language, and recent research in educational topics.
Whether you're a new or seasoned teacher, this book can inspire you - and help you inspire your students.
