I recently had a chance to review several titles from Workman Kids.
Did You Hear What Happened in Salem? This is a kid-appropriate retelling of the Salem witch trials back in 1692. The first-person narrative style provides an engaging story-telling experience, with a fresh voice that will appeal to middle elementary kids while also providing factual historical knowledge.
The other titles were great for older kids: Everything You Need to Ace Algebra 2 in One Big Fat Notebook and The Big Fat High School Algebra 2 Workbook. These books partner perfectly together. You could use the first book without the workbook, but as a math teacher I can definitely tell you that practicing helps with retention in a way that just reading about doesn't. These would be appropriate for math students who struggled with Algebra 2 and want some refresher before the ACT or SAT (or other placement tests), or also for people who took Algebra 2 and want to review over the summer before Pre-Calc. They can also be used as a companion book to the regular textbook in high school classes for extra practice and instruction. They're easy to understand, visually engaging, and concise.
