Globally, 1.4 billion children aged 0–15 lack any form of social protection, leaving them highly vulnerable to disease, malnutrition, and poverty.1 For those living in crisis-affected areas, the challenges are even greater: by the end of 2024, an estimated 234 million school-aged children will urgently need access to safe, quality education. Alarmingly, more than one in three—some 85 million—are completely out of school, putting their health, learning, and future opportunities at risk.2
Since its founding in 2006, GO Campaign has been transforming the lives of these vulnerable children by partnering with Local Heroes—grassroots leaders who provide life-changing solutions directly within their communities.
In the past 19 years, GO Campaign has partnered with 216 Local Heroes in more than 40 countries, improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of children. The organization helps its partners develop programs that provide children and young adults with basic human needs such as shelter, food, clean water, education, medical care, vocational training, and income-generating activities.
“Every child deserves the right to opportunity – to learn, to be safe, to be healthy, and to thrive,” said Scott Fifer, GO Campaign Founder and CEO.
A former U.S. Senate aide, NYC Wall Street attorney, and Hollywood screenwriter, Fifer spent a month volunteering at an orphanage in Tanzania 20 years ago, and when he returned to Los Angeles, he couldn’t shake the profound impact of the children he met. He knew he wanted to help—and realized his way forward was to create a direct bridge between people eager to make a difference and the grassroots leaders on the ground already doing the work but lacking the resources. From that vision, GO Campaign was born.
GO Campaign will celebrate its work at the annual GO Gala (October 17, in Los Angeles) — an inspiring night where Hollywood stars meet everyday heroes. This year’s gala will honor the Wrexham AFC Foundation and its ambassadors Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds for using the power of football to transform children’s lives in their community. They use the sport as a tool to inspire, educate, and create opportunities.
In this interview, Scott Fifer will be available to raise awareness about GO Campaign — who they are, what they do, and what they’ve achieved so far. He’ll also discuss this year’s Gala and explain how people everywhere can get involved and help provide children and young adults in need with critical services and resources to thrive and transform their lives.
