Award-winning Children’s songwriter, published author and composer, and elementary music educator Kim Noller joins forces with Grammy nominated music and social justice artist, educator and producer Harold “Fyütch” Simmons to release an empowering new single, I Belong. This inspiring song arrives just in time for National Bullying Awareness Month and speaks to the universal need for connection and acceptance.
"Like many of us, I’ve often felt on the outskirts of groups, never quite fitting in," shares Noller. "But after attending the 2023 Children’s Music Network conference in Boston, I felt a true sense of belonging. That moment sparked the initial draft of I Belong, but feeling it lacked something, I set it aside for over a year. Last October, while having tea with my mom before school, Fyütch messaged me about my Falling for Fall album," Noller recalls. "I squealed, ‘Mom, Fyütch just messaged me! How does he even know who I am?’ After chatting back and forth for a few months and a video interview with my fourth-grade students, I sent the rough cut of I Belong to Fyütch and asked him if he was interested in collaborating. His creativity, artistry, and production lifted it sky-high."
With heartfelt lyrics and an infectious beat, I Belong reminds kids and families that real connection – not power – ends the cycle of bullying. "Everyone craves real connection, but when people who bully steal it, we grasp for scraps anywhere – even toxic places – unless we unite," says Noller. "People who bully mistake power for acceptance. This song is a reminder that real connection stops the hurt for victims and bullies alike."
