Written for children ages 4–8, “The Nature of Change” follows siblings Kit and Amal as they adjust to a new home that initially feels strange and unwelcoming. Through the wonders of their backyard – from towering trees to delicate morning glories – they discover how nature adapts, thrives, and renews itself, offering guidance for resilience, hope, and emotional growth.
Inspired by the personal loss of her first child to brain cancer, Marsh crafted this book to help families slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the steady wisdom nature offers, especially during times that feel unstable or overwhelming for young children.
“Children today grow up surrounded by constant news of disasters and change,” says Marsh. “This story is meant to be a soft place to land – a space where parents and children can talk about feelings, resilience, and the beauty that can follow hardship.”
“The Nature of Change” offers both practical and emotional support for children experiencing challenges such as loss, moving, divorce, or other major transitions. It stands apart in the marketplace not only for its message of mindfulness and environmental awareness but also for its deeply personal origin.
The book provides:
- Gentle guidance for conversations about big emotions and life transitions.
- Encouragement of mindfulness, presence, and connection with nature.
- Support for families facing challenges such as loss, divorce, or relocation.
- Continued advocacy for pediatric brain cancer research, with a portion of the author’s advance donated to the cause.
“The Nature of Change” is both a story and a supportive tool. In addition to the book, Marsh offers optional bonus resources including a guided journal and calming companion nature-sound audio experience which will be available exclusively on her website. Together with the story, they invite children to see, write, and listen – helping them slow down, focus, and connect more deeply with the book’s themes.
Marsh’s previous children’s book, “The Miracle Workers: Boy vs. Beast,” received national attention on Today, ABC, and CNN, with all proceeds supporting pediatric brain cancer research. With “The Nature of Change,” she continues her mission to combine storytelling with meaningful impact.
“My hope is that this book becomes a companion for families – something they can return to whenever life feels overwhelming,” adds Marsh. “After the most painful chapter of my life, I learned that even in darkness, there is space for renewal. That is the heart of this story.”
