Healthy Habits: Nasal congestion

Right now my baby daughter is stuffed up due to a cold. Cold medicines are out for babies, but what other options are there?

These options work for adults or children. Next time you're planning to reach for some Sudafed, try these first! They just might work.

1) Use an eyedropper to put a few drops of salt-water solution in each nostril and hold the head back briefly (difficult to do with small children and toddlers, but effective)
2) Use steam - either from boiling water or a very hot shower
3) Try pressure points. I've seen all of these points mentioned on various accupressure sites: just outside the nostrils, on the bridge of the nose right between the eyes, the sides of the bridge just below the corners of the eyes
