World Wisdom: Stain Removers

Today's tip - eco-friendly stain removers. Basically, these are products that work as well as traditional stain removers, but use fewer chemicals or are entirely plant-based.

An even easier method? Ivory soap. For most stains, rubbing with a bar of unscented bar soap and rinsing will clear out the stain. For stubborn stains, rubbing with soap and soaking, or rubbing and gently scrubbing with a scrub brush will work.

Got oil and grease stains? Put cornstarch or baking soda on the stain, then lay it stain-side down on a rag on an ironing board. Iron out the stain (the heat will help it dissolve).

For rust stains, soak in a lemon juice/water solution for 30 minutes before washing.

And, remember, line-drying your clothes in sunlight will bleach out nearly all types of stains (even cloth diaper stains and grape juice if it's not too dark).
