Thrifty Thursday: Gift Ideas

Budget-friendly ideas:
- If the recipient loves a particular dish at a restaurant, find the recipe and package it with all the ingredients in a gift bag.
- Dress up inexpensive gifts by re-wrapping them outside of the individual box.
- Create a mini-scrapbook of a special event.
- Break up sets and personalize. For example, buy a dozen coffee mugs, then decorate them or include them with several packets of hot cocoa.
- Use your loose change. Coinstar change machines don't charge a fee if you put the money on a gift card.
- Give the gift of time by offering a needed service (baby-sitting, housecleaning, dog-walking, etc).
- Make magnets by using playing pieces or puzzle pieces from a game or puzzle that is missing other parts. Just buy adhesive-backed magnet tape and stick on for a playful, inexpensive gifts.

Inexpensive wrapping:
- Holiday-themed tissue boxes and coffee cans
- Sew cloth bags and exchange presents in them year after year
- Save gift bags you receive and reuse them
- Use butcher paper of kraft paper and decorate it
