Parenting Pointers: De-Cluttering - Bedrooms

Make sure each room has a laundry hamper - and enforce its use.

Give each family member a basket to use for not-dirty-but-worn-once clothes (many clothing items don't need to be washed every time they're worn - this saves time washing, and saves money for water and wear and tear on the clothes).

Give each family member a linen bag for socks. Throw the socks in the wash together in the linen bag. If you line dry, hang them together on the line. If you use a dryer, throw the bag in there. No more time spent sorting socks.

Use under-bed storage for out-of-season clothes to give your closet more space.

If you store a lot of things on top of the dresser or nightstand, get a small basket to keep the space looking more organized.

Use a change jar for loose change at the end of the day. When it's full, use it for a special treat or extra savings.
