Contest: Baskin-Robbins Create a Flavor

Have you ever dreamt about creating a unique ice cream flavor? Now is your chance to try! Baskin-Robbins has launched a national online contest offering anyone hwo wants to opportunity to create a new ice cream flavor that could be featured in stores June 2011. Until October 31st, you can visit the flavor creator and virtually mix your own ingredients to create a new flavor. You choose from 31 base flavors, a variety of ribbons such as fudge or peanut butter and many of different mix-ins like candies and cookies.

Baskin-Robbins recently retired five flavors in honor of the brand’s 65th birthday, but will add a new consumer-generated flavor to the flavor library. The contest is open to all US residents of all ages. After the contest closes on October 31st, ten finalists will be chosen by Baskin-Robbins and displayed on www.BaskinRobbins.com. Participants will then be able to vote online for their favorite flavor from November 29th through December 12th. The winning flavor will be developed in 2011 and will be sold as the June 2011 Flavor of the Month. Full details and rules are available at the contest site. Top 10 finalists will receive a year's worth of ice cream, and the winner, in addition to being the creator of the Flavor of the Month, will win a trip for two to Boston and $1,000.

I had fun creating my flavor. It only took a minute, and the hardest part was deciding which of the flavors in my head to try.

Another fun thing by Baskin-Robbins is the flavorology quiz. According to experts in smell and taste, a person's characteristics are linked to the types of foods and flavors they like. You can take the flavorology quiz developed with Dr. Alan Hirsch on Facebook to see how well you think yours match up.

The quiz is only 8 questions, so it also takes minimal time - and is a lot of fun! After you take it, you'll have the chance to share it with friends, or you can skip inviting your friends.

Also on Facebook, you can get a free scoop of ice cream when you get three friends to join a scoop group (details here).
