Consumers spent $10.8 billion on consumer technology related products last year, and they're supposed to be hot again this year - plus, about 20% of Americans will be buying a new computer in the next 12 months. AMD recently did research on computer buying behavior and found that buying the right computer can be a difficult - nearly one-quarter of those responding described the process as confusing, and nearly 70% said it the challenge of understanding technology was the most difficult part (even though 56% said performance was the most important factor).
Leslie Sobon, Corporate Vice President of Marketing at AMD, offers tips on how to navigate buying computers this holiday season to ensure that you've made the right choice:
* Look for systems branded VISION Technology from AMD, which help you choose the perfect PC (without needing an engineering degree)
- Different VISION Technology from AMD labels correspond with different user needs, allowing consumers to quickly and easily make educated buying decisions based on how they will use the computer
* To best take advantage of this season’s holiday deals, confirm your purchase beforehand by visiting the store days ahead and asking your salesperson relevant usage questions such as:
- Will this computer allow me to listen to or mix music?
- Will this computer allow me to view and edit photos?
- Can my child build a Power Point presentation on this computer?
- Will my husband be able to edit the family videos on this computer?
- Can I watch Blu-ray and/or HD movies?
- Can I watch Live TV or play video games?
