Consumer Critique: Hormel Compleats #SSHormelKids

As part of a SheSpeaks program, I got to sample Hormel Compleats Kids Meals. These shelf-stable meals are designed in kid-friendly flavors and are meant to be healthy options.

They come in four varieties: spaghetti and meatballs, pasta & chicken, beef ravioli, and macaroni and beef. The first two were the easiest to get my daughter to eat. I made the mistake of calling macaroni and beef "macaroni" instead of noodles, and she refused to eat it because it was "red" (it comes in a tomato-based sauce). They do seem to be overall healthy - sources of some vitamins and protein, a little high in sodium but not as bad as a lot of quick-serve meals. The taste isn't as good as making things fresh, but I didn't really expect that from shelf-stable meals! They are a convenient option, and since they're shelf-stable, not frozen, they heat up very quickly.

They website has a lot of great healthy activity ideas like octopus squeeze and turtle pass. You can also use the downloaded activity chart to help track your kids' activity.

Disclosure: I received a sample of Hormel Compleats Kids Meals to facilitate this review.
