Consumer Critique: Master Lock 8428DPS

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Master Lock 8428DPS lock. I've never used a lock like this before, and quite honestly hadn't even heard of it. It's definitely something we're going to start using when we go biking, though.

It has a unique design, which means the cable can lock anywhere from one foot to six feet. The length of the cable and ease of adjustment make it perfect to lock not only bikes, but a variety of other things as well. The product page suggests motorcycles, grills, lawnmowers, and tools as possibilities. The video shows even more, including what I'll use it for - strollers.

We have a nice bike trailer, but it's awkward to lock up. The length of the cable, though, makes it easy to just loop through the frame and into our bike cable lock - or, depending on where we are, to just use this to lock up bike and trailer with one lock. Because the end is thin, it slips through the frame very easily, and the locking mechanism is also easy to use.

Disclosure: I received a free sample of the Master Lock 8428DPS to facilitate this review, but opinions are my own.
