Fun Freetime: BunkiMunki

This website is just fun to say: BunkiMunki. Seriously, my husband giggled at the name. And a lot of the site is monkey-themed. You start by dressing up your monkey, and then enjoy all the site has to offer.

The site is designed for kids ages 7-15. My favorite aspect is the badges. There are activities suggested for badges (and different levels of each badge) and kids can apply for them. It's a nice way to encourage your kids to do certain activities, or give them direction if they hit the, "I'm bored" stage. The site is free, but does have additional features at the premium level - chat, bmail, and virtual shopping, for example. The site is brand-new, so not every feature is fully fleshed out, but there will also be tangible products sold under the BunkiMunki name, that will come with codes that can be redeemed online for virtual currency.

It is a pretty easy site to use. The games are basic, fun games, easy for kids to pick up but addicting even for adults. The badge activities are really neat, I think. Plus, the site is committed to safety - since it's designed for kids under 13, it has to be in order to meet COPPA standards.
