If you've got an old toothbrush, wash it and keep it around. You can use it to smooth flyaways with hair gel, exfoliate your lips, dye your eyebrows to match your hair, and fix mascara.
Besides cleaning around your ears (you shouldn't clean in the ear canal itself), cotton swab can desmudge makeup, soften makeup edges, gently tame spots where too much has been applied, and get that last little bit of makeup out of the container for use.
