Website Spotlight: Travel Nursing

Do you know what Travel nurses are? They are nurses who fill in temporary shortages all over the country. Assignments range from four to 26 weeks, and many times, living arrangements and/or travel cost are included. So if you are a nurse and like to travel, or know someone who is a nurse and isn't sure where they want to settle down, this career might be a great short-term option - especially if there are several geographic areas under consideration. This allows someone to get a food in the door and learn the politics and characteristics of a certain area before deciding to settle there. If your family is mobile, they can travel too. To be eligible, you need to be an RN, LPN, or surgical technologist with at least one year experience. Positions are open in a variety of specialties, too, including pediatrics, emergency room, intensive care units, operating rooms, neonatal, and more.

The site also sponsors a scholarship for those who are applying to a medical-related field or currently taking further education courses in nursing or medicine. To able, write a 500-1000 word essay detailing what you hope to accomplish with your medical training. The scholarship is awarded every six months, and current deadlines for 2012 are January 10th and July 10th.
