Consumer Critique: The Cookie Thief (Frances Gilbert)

I recently received a copy of The Cookie Thief by Frances Gilbert. The book is a short, sweet story about a boy who is upset that his cookies keep disappearing, no matter where people hide them. So with the help of a friend, he lays a trap for the cookie thief - and discovers who it is! It has a cute ending, and the illustrations really add to the story - especially Thomas's expressions!

The author, Frances Gilbert, was born in London became a special educator after emigrating to the U.S. She has worked with young children for over thirty years. She believes the reading experience is an important precursor to literacy, and writes her books to be read aloud. This book is perfect for both reading aloud to young kids, and also works well for early readers with some literacy skills.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy to facilitate this review.
