Mealtime Magic: Healthy Juices

Juice sometimes gets a bad rap, because it often has a lot of added sugar, and doesn't contain the fiber of whole fruits and vegetables. But it can be a way to get in a serving of fruits, along with vitamins they contain - and some fruits pack an extra-healthy punch. Tart cherry juice, for example, helps sleep - people who drank one ounce twice a day slept longer and more soundly according to a recent European Journal of Nutrition study. Cranberry juice has long been known as a way to fight bacteria that causes urinary tract infections. And tomato juice - especially organic - has high levels of antioxidants that have been linked to lower cancer risk. And for kids, vegetable-fruit juice blends can be a good way to help picky kids get vegetable servings too.
