Here's a website with an interesting - and thought-provoking - concept: WeddingGiftRefund.com. The site was started by a father-son team who got tired of spending money on wedding gifts for short-lived marriages. For a small fee, you can get a refund of the price of your gift (between $50 and $500) if the couple gets a divorce within 3 years. To learn more, you can view their first commercial.
On the one hand, they stand to lose a lot of money, with divorce rates as high as they are. On the other hand, with the stipulation being in the first 3 years, and the fact that they're getting some money from people who register where the marriages do last, who knows?
It seems a little bit controversial to me. On the one hand, it can be seen as insurance and a chance to get the money back if things don't work out. On the other hand, it does seem like you're hedging your bets against the couple.
What do you think? It's certainly a unique concept.
