Do you want to give your mother a meaningful gift to celebrate her
generous spirit - or do you want a gift for yourself that will leave a
lasting impact on communities around the world? More than $16.3 billion
is expected to be spent on Mother’s Day this year, according to a
National Retail Federation estimate. A new study, commissioned by World
Vision, reveals almost one third of moms in America say they often
pretend to like the Mother’s Day gifts they typically receive from
family. Nearly two-thirds of moms say they would prefer to receive a
meaningful gift that would help someone else instead of a traditional
Mother’s Day gift such as flowers or a card. The survey also says most
adults would like to honor mom by giving something that would empower
other mothers.
World Vision’s 2012 Spring/Summer Gift Catalog
is full of meaningful gifts. Last year alone, the World Vision U.S.
Gift Catalog raised more than $32 million providing help to more than
800,000 worldwide. This year’s goal: $34 million. World Vision launched
the Gift Catalog in 1996. Since then it’s raised over $162 million
dollars. When you order from World Vision's Gift Catalog, the honoree
receives a thoughtful card. Some gifts even include a token gift for the
recipient (such as fair-trade coffee or jewelry) in addition to
providing life-saving work around the world. You can find more
