Consumer Critique: Blogging All-In-One and ProBlogger

I recently had a chance to review ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income and Blogging All-in-One For Dummies.

As a blogger, both of them were very interesting, very useful reads. I decided when I first started this blog that I wasn't in it for full time income, and I have no intention of trying to get it there. So I'm not exactly the intended audience for the ProBlogger book, yet I still found it interesting and a worthwhile read, for a variety of reasons. This book covers everything, from cautioning readers that blogging does take work to make it pay, to setting up a blog, to creating and maintaining a community. It includes tips on using social media, promoting and marketing, and even going beyond blogging.

A lot of this information you can probably find online, with some digging. But this book has so much material in one easy-to-read place that if you're serious about becoming a professional blogger, it's worth considering.

The Blogging All-in-One for Dummies covers a lot of the same topics, but has even more material, and is written in the familiar "for dummies" style that breaks things down to the most basic without being too condescending. This one also covers setting up, promoting, and making money from blogs. It also has a section devoted to corporate/business blogging, and focuses specifically on Twitter, not really on other social media.

Both books are great resources for beginning bloggers, and those who have been blogging for a while but want to try to take things to the next level would benefit from reading these as well.

Disclosure: I received complimentary copies of the books to facilitate this review.
