Consumer Critique: When Talent Isn't Enough

As a blogger, I was intrigued to read the book When Talent Isn't Enough: Business Basics for the Creatively Inclined: For Creative Professionals, Including... Artists, Writers, Designers, Bloggers, ... to Freelance or Run Their Own Business. My husband is also interested in making some money with photography, so this was also a helpful book to read for him.

A lot of times, people with a really creative bent like to focus on what they do and aren't sure how to monetize it - or how to run it as a business, to make sure they get a fair price for their efforts, and to make sure they're being efficient with the money side of things.

The author has experience as well, so this book is backed by someone who's been there. Kristen Fischer is a copywriter, journalist and author who has written for Writer's Digest, New Jersey Monthly, HOW Magazine, and MediaBistro.com.

I like the tone of the book. It is written with authority, but in a casual manner. It's not preachy or condescending, and it's also easy to follow. If you're trying to monetize a hobby, this could be a good resource for you.
