Fun Freetime: Hot New Toys from Toy Fair

Creative Kidstuff staff (Roberta Bonoff and Happi Olson) recently attended Toy Fair and came back with some great recommendations that I wanted to pass on to you. I particularly liked the science and active play ideas!

Girls and Science – Science projects for girls have always been really "pink" to make spa products or totally nonexistent. Toy makers are really stepping it up this year with true science projects that are attractive, easy to understand and fun! There is more integrity to these products than ever before.
New and Improved Tech Toys – Tech toys have evolved from iPad and iPhone apps that entertain, to products that help kids learn, grow and develop.
  • Product we love:
    • Romo - http://romotive.com/meet-romo – the smartphone robot that allows kids to customize and program their very own – and very intelligent – robot.
Active Play – There are more products than ever to get kids active. With ongoing budget cuts impacting physical education programs in schools, these products encourage active play.
  • Products we love:
    • Weighted Hoola Hoops
    • Kickbo Kick Shuttlecocks - http://www.kikbo.com
    • Good Mitten – Mix of badminton and raquetball
The Fox – It's last year's owl, and it's everywhere!

Color and Design – Apple led the way with smart design and toy manufacturers are following. Creative Kidstuff saw, more than ever before, toys that are visually pleasing with bright colors, sleek and smart designs, and thoughtful packaging elements.
