According
to The Nestlé Feeding Infants and Toddlers Study (FITS,) children ages
24-48 months are mirroring the unhealthy eating patterns often seen in
older children and adults-too few
fruits and vegetables, too little fiber, potassium, vitamin E, and too
much saturated fat and sodium. Since toddlers need help with exploring
new foods and choosing nutritious foods for healthy growth and
development, setting a good example of a healthy diet
is paramount. That means providing a variety of nutritious foods for
the whole family at meal and snack times.
I had the chance to speak with Michelle Dudash, registered dietitian, Cordon Bleu-certified chef, and healthy recipe columnist, who shares her tips as well as some healthy options for young kids from Gerber Foods.
