Shopping Savings: Planet Fitness

I recently had a chance to tour the new Planet Fitness location in Roseville. They're offering a fantastic deal right now, through March 28th - $10/month membership or $19.99/month membership (the more expensive one gets you access to benefits like nationwide gym access, unlimited guest privileges, massage chairs). Both memberships include access to small group and personal training sessions. The gym is very spacious - lots of cardio equipment, a good-sized free weight area, weight machines, and a dedicated area for stretching and ab workout. There are also two circuit areas, one that combines strength and cardio, and one specific for abs. I was impressed enough with the facility that my husband, who's been looking for a gym for a while, signed up that day (I'm fine with workout out at home, but it's easier for him to be inspired at a gym).

Planet Fitness preaches a judgment free zone, welcoming people of all fitness levels. The equipment looked clean and well-maintained (granted, it's a new place, but it seems like the kind of location that will be easy to keep up too). The staff was pleasant to talk to, and they participate in health insurance reimbursement (check with your insurance plan to see if you can get matching) - which means that his membership is free, minus the annual registration fee. It works out to less than $4/month to belong (as long as he works out, which he's done well at getting his 12 attendance points in the past each month).
