Creative Kidstuff has launched a dedicated portion of their website, CK Autism, specifically tailored towards parents and families of kids with autism. The site contains toy suggestions that focus specifically on certain skill categories:
  • Social Engagement and Interaction
  • Emotional Development and Regulation
  • Creative Thinking and Imaginary Play
  • Sensory Motor Development
  • Communication
  • Cognition & Problem Solving
  • Tips for Playing with Your Child
  • St. David's Center Favorites
A few other highlights:
  • The products and language were developed through a partnership with St. David’s Center, an organization with an expansive knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and the specialized treatment it provides to children and families.
  • The Creative Kidstuff team attended an educational session with the St. David’s Center team to learn more about ASD and how to help families find the right toys for their child.  Children on the spectrum have the same individual wants, needs and interests and now the Creative Kidstuff team knows the right questions to ask to help shoppers find the products that will best suit their child.  Some examples of these questions are:
    • What is your child’s preferred activity level (does he or she like quiet play or busy play)?
    • How does your child respond to lights, sounds or touch?
    • Can your child imitate actions and/or sounds?
  • The site also features tips and advice developed with the help of St. David’s Center for playing with a child on the spectrum as part of Creative Kidstuff’s mission to help families play
  • More options, categories, and products to choose from. Instead of a small selection of “sensory” toys,  Creative Kidstuff had St. David’s Center evaluate its complete product stock and identify new and unique products or see old favorites in a new light as beneficial to children on the spectrum. This will be especially helpful for friends and extended family shopping for a child with ASD
  • The site will feature videos of St. David’s Center staff explaining the benefits of certain products as well as playtime tips
