Website Spotlight: weeSpring

As the first and most comprehensive online social review site, weeSpring gives new and expecting parents a one-stop resource for finding the best baby products for their lifestyle needs - with trusted advice from friends and like-minded parents. Founded in late 2012 by parents for parents, weeSpring provides a platform for parents to share product reviews and ratings across retailers. It also allows you to explore product reviews of friends and other parents who share similar demographics - ratings and reviews are from trusted people.

The average product review on e-commerce sites across the web is 4.2 stars, and families buying 4 star products don’t realize that these are sub-par choices.  Being able to see what their friends love—and what they regret—makes these choices easy.
I recently had a chance to interview founder and CEO Ally Downey.

What inspired the launch of weeSpring?

When weeSpring founder Ally Downey walked into a Babies R Us for the first time, she was completely overwhelmed by the product choices. She immediately decided to email her trusted mom friends about what products to get for her baby. After gathering lists and spreadsheets from numerous friends and family, a lightbulb went off: so many people have already figured this stuff out. All Ally needed to do was collate their research: find out what they loved and what they wish they'd never bought.  So Ally and her husband Jack built weeSpring to facilitate the exchange and provide a centralized resource for ALL new and expecting parents (and a platform for the more experienced parents to share what they've learned with their friends).

What features set it apart from other review sites?
Our goal is to simplify the review process as much as possible. Instead of an inaccurate 5 star rating you can simply click "Love", "Regret", "Have", or "Want". We even have a character limit on our reviews(200) which help busy moms get the information they need fast. You can also follow your friends through Facebook.

Why are review sites helpful for parents?

They say it takes a village to raise a child. We no longer lives in villages, with everyone giving a helping hand, but with weeSpring we have a social village. We have a platform where you can get the help and advice you need from friends and other parents who share similar demographics. Ratings and reviews from trusted people.
weeSpring is also planning on partnering with brands to give subscribers an in-depth look into the products featured on the website. Attached you'll find additional information on weeSpring and it's founders. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
