Acai berry: The leading fruit antioxidant (Guest Post)

You may not be aware but every day exposure to the sun has detrimental effects to your skin. The sun is a source of ultraviolet radiation. Although the most harmful type of radiation is being absorbed by the atmosphere, some types of UV radiation still reaches us. What’s bad about radiation is that it can actually penetrate your skin. Once it has reached your skin, it will stimulate the production of destructive substances known as free radicals. These free radicals affect the structure of your skin. The most visible and immediate effect of free radicals is the reddening of your skin during sun exposure. Free radicals can also trigger the degradation of essential protein in your skin while at the same time hindering their production. And if things get worst, free radicals can lead to skin cancer. What’s so frightening about free radicals is that not all its effects are seen immediately. There are those that build up over time. And what’s not good about this is that once you do take notice of these damages, it’s already too late.

The best thing that you can do to avoid the above mentioned occurrences is prevention. As early as now, you have to take precautions whenever going under the sun. The easiest way of doing this is by using umbrellas, hats, long sleeved clothes and sunglasses. If you are not able to use any of these due to various reasons, the next thing that you can do is to make use of cosmetics that have ingredients that could combat free radicals. Ingredients that have such activities are referred to as antioxidants. Some of the products that contain such antioxidant are  lotions, creams and lip plumping gloss

Antioxidants can either be natural or synthetic. With the current trend in cosmetics, most companies go for the natural ones. Antioxidants can be derived from fruits. There are actually a lot of fruits from where you can harvest antioxidants. The most well-known amongst these fruits is acai berry.   Acai berry contains the highest amount   of antioxidants. Acai is a plant native to the rainforests of South America. Its berry looks very much similar to blueberry. Their difference can be seen in the berries’ color and pulp. Acai berries have a darker color compared to blueberries. To add, acai berries have a reddish pulp while those of blueberries are greenish. In terms of activities, acai berry oil is able to remove free radicals thereby preventing their destructive effects. Acai berry not only finds applications in cosmetic products but also in food and pharmaceutical applications.

Whenever you’re buying a hair care or skin or lip care product , take this advice: always think ahead . Buy shampoo, lotions and color cosmetics that have antioxidants in them such as lip plumping gloss. The best choice will be those containing acai berry as its efficacy is already proven and well-researched. No need to worry. You wouldn’t encounter any difficulty in looking for products that have acai berry. As mentioned, acai berry is really popular and a lot of products in the market already have it as one of the ingredients.
