Full disclosure - I don't actually play ukulele. I do, however, play other stringed instruments, and enough different instruments to know whether a book is comprehensive and easy to understand. Ukulele Exercises for Dummies is not written with the absolute beginner in mind, but it is written to be appropriate for very early beginners and those with a little more experience who want to improve certain techniques. The book does through a variety of techniques with clear explanations: strumming patterns and rhythms, fingerpicking, riffs, and more, incorporating a variety of styles. You can also get audio versions of the exercises, so you hear what they should sound like and have a clear goal to work towards.
I liked how well this was written. And I think I actually want to go get a ukulele now! I'm always looking for new instruments to learn.
