World Wisdom: Teaching Kids About Green Entrepreneurialism

If you can teach your kids to be enterprising, then they're well on their way to owning and starting the next Fortune 500 company! However, you should also teach them about living green both at work and at home. They need to understand the importance of Eco friendly work, so that they implement these tactics in everything they do for the rest of their lives. The following tips will help you teach your children about green entrepreneurialism.

1) Show Them Green Skills
Start by showing them how to be green around the house. This means recycling to the extreme! Never buy products that aren't biodegradable, and re-use things whenever possible. Your children will follow your example as they grow up. If recycling is part of their everyday life, then they'll think nothing of it. Start recycling now if you don't do it. It might be hard at first, but think of the Earth while doing it. Your family will get the point where it becomes second nature to them.

2) Raise Money for a Green Charity
If you really want them to get the feel for raising money, have them pick a green charity, and work towards donating to it. You can raise money for a fund that helps save forests in the Amazon or one that keeps sea animals healthy. They can choose whatever it is, as long as it helps the Earth. Then, you can hold can food drives or sell lemonade. You should ask others to donate to the charity too. Give them little presents like friendship bracelets, cookies, or stickers in return for their kindness. A little effort can go a really long way, and your kids will realize this at a young age, and remember it well into adulthood.

3) Start a Project That Uses Green Ideas
If your child wants to start a project that could become lucrative someday, then let them develop it on their own accord. However, try to push them towards incorporating green ideas into their project. This could be as simple as using recycled paper products. It doesn't have to be a big idea, but enough to make a little difference. You want them to learn how to incorporate these into their ideas so that green entrepreneurialism becomes second nature.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to slowly introduce your kids to living green. In turn, make suggestions that will help them create businesses with a green focus. In the very least, you will be helping them make the world a better place.
