Website Spotlight: Googaro

I recently heard about Googaro, a site that offers subscription boxes with great baby products. I had a chance to interview Meghna Prasad, Co-Founder and CEO.

1. What led up to the launch of the Googaro service?
One day a friend who was due in a few weeks asked if I could recommend a baby book – and that question made me laugh. Just one? I had a huge stack by my bed that was growing daily! As we talked, I voiced my concerns and exhaustion about the endless options out there, and joked that I wished I had a personal assistant who could research all of this stuff for us. Find the best baby books, the best bath wash, the safest and cutest organic baby clothes. “Isn’t there something out there that can help mothers find the best products on the market?” my friend asked. And thus, the idea of Googaro was born.
2. How are products selected?
We work with moms to get feedback on what they like and stay abreast of the latest trends in the baby market. We favor products that are natural, organic and educational but fun.
3. What are some of the favorite products you've included in the box?
As a mom of a toddler I tend to prefer toys without batteries. We had some great toys from Hape in one of the boxes. I also like cute things I can use - our past boxes have included Dr. Seuss wet bags, Zoli sippy cups, Sugerbooger closet organizers and Boon bath toys. It's hard to choose!
4. What was the best piece of parenting advice anyone ever gave you?
Read to your child. I've been reading to my son since he was a month old and even though he's a very active toddler with a short attention span he still likes books. He is learning to recognize familiar shapes and sounds and its amazing to watch his reactions when I read his favorite books/parts.
I'll have the others for you shortly.
