If your kids want to learn piano, lessons can be expensive - especially if you're in a major metro area. It can be a big investment if you aren't sure your kids will stick with it. There's a site that's available for $24.95 a month that you can try out for one week for free called KidsLearnPianoLive (they also have an adult site if you're interested in learning) that is a much lower cost than traditional teachers.
I am a piano teacher, and while I feel that there's no full substitute for face-to-face interaction with a teacher, this site can be a good option to get started, or if there aren't affordable teachers in your area. There are weekly lessons that are graded according to level, with an accompanying printable file. It's most effective if you can view the site on a laptop while you're at the piano or keyboard. I let my 6-year-old try it out (she's had some basic piano with me) and she had fun with it. Each week there's a song shown, and more advanced players learn more advanced techniques that go along with the song, while beginners can just work on the basic melody. Lessons are presented live several times a week, but are recorded for those who aren't able to view them live.
On the whole, it's a decent site. I still strongly recommend that if you or your child really wants to learn, that you find a teacher. But if you're just getting started or can't afford that, then this is a good alternative. Parents of young children may want to learn along with them, so help them out if they get stuck, but overall the pace is fine, as long as kids pick the level that they're comfortable with.
