Consumer Critique: Chickens in the Road

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Chickens in the Road was a very interesting read. From the author's 12-year-old, convinced that they were going to die in the slanted little house, to 52, the partner that we never really find out much about, and all the troubles that come with starting a farm, there are a lot of elements in this short memoir. And yet, amid all the struggles that she had, she is inspiring and hopeful, and makes it seem possible to leave everything and make a new life.

What I liked even more were some of the recipes and DIY instructions, like burnt sugar cake, her homemade laundry detergent, and beeswax lip balm. The book is real, and so are the lessons that can be learned from reading it.
