Django Jones is a band that used to tour the world as Girlyman but has transitioned to children's music. D is for Django is named for one member's Chihuahua mix and has a lot of great songs. What I love about bands like this is that the songs are appropriate for kids, but have pleasing, rich, adult sounds too, so they don't get annoying for parents to listen to. The CD has some songs that will help kids learn about self-esteem, music, and science, and lighter songs to help them fall asleep and relax.
After the girls listened to the CD the first time, some of the melodies were catchy enough to get stuck in my head, but not so long that they were annoying. And while I doubt my kids can explain the concept of counterpoint as well as my husband and I can, it's still fun for them to get exposure to some of these higher-level concepts that they may hear later. The CD will be released April 29th, but you can pre-order it now.
