Fun Freetime: Drawing with Mark New DVDs

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

I reviewed previous Drawing with Mark DVDs, and the series continues with two new titles available March 11 from home entertainment label, Shelter Island. A NAPPA, Parents’ Choice and Creative Child Magazine award winner, Drawing with Mark is hosted by Mark Marderosian, a respected professional cartoonist and former Disney illustrator with over 25 years of experience.

Each DVD has two 30 minute episodes that combine a field trip to a cool destination with two drawing lessons relating to the field trip, colorful animation, fun facts and trivia. The two new DVDs Drawing with Mark (Something Fishy/A Day at the Aquarium) and (Good to Grow/Life on the Farm) include special bonus segments – how to make an origami fish and horse puppet.

I like these DVDs. The length of an episode is perfect for kids - not too long to sit, but long enough that they learn. It incorporates art and learning, and we actually use the DVDs for homeschool lessons. My daughter loves origami so she really enjoyed the origami fish bonus episode.

It's not as flashy as lots of kids entertainment, but I like the simple, conversational style and the pace that allows my kids to keep up and draw along. They like the cute, simple characters, and willingly watch it again and again to practice art.

You can watch the video below to get more of an idea of the DVDs:

You can purchase the DVD from Mark's website, on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BN.com.
